Kim Domingo doesn’t mind ‘Bubble Gang’ capitalizing on her sexiness

STAR CIRCUIT - Ricky L. Calderon - The Freeman

For the longest time, one of our favorite GMA programs has been “Bubble Gang,” the longest-running gag show on Philippine television. If we don’t have any event to attend to on a Friday night, we really make it a point to watch the highly-entertaining gag show.

We really love their spoofs and gags, especially those that have political undertones. We also like if Michael V mimics popular politicians like Joseph Estrada or Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo thru characters that make fun of their foibles. But this is all for the sake of entertainment, not meant to cast aspersions on their characters. Although at times, the jokes tell the truth about a political issue at hand.

“Bubble Gang” has a very current approach on their brand of comedy, thanks to their very talented creative heads Chito Francisco and Caesar Cosme.

For the 24th anniversary presentation of the gag show, they are offering a two-part superhero telemovie special titled “The ScAvengers,” which very obviously is a spoof of the very successful movie franchise “The Avengers.”

“This is a somewhat crazy and ambitious project,” said Michael V at the press launch of Bubble Gang’s 24th anniversary presentation on Monday. “Sa totoo lang, laro lang ang gusto namin and yet gusto namin ipakita na kahit naglalaro, ‘yung quality hindi mawawala. So this time around, it’s a visual treat na talagang sa teaser pa lang ay gugulatin namin kayo.”

“We have a new audience and new episodes. It is our duty and also our pleasure to create something new for these new audiences, for our new supporters and followers. At the same time, we are maintaining our loyal audience. The cast members and the production team recognize that we should always be ready to innovate,” he added.

Bitoy said they had long been planning to do a spoof of a superhero movie. And it is best to do a spoof of the very successful Avengers.

“The ScAvengers,” which is a word play on Marvel Studio’s eponymous characters, revolves around an outcast group of homeless people who scavenge for a living and find extraordinary scraps which fell from outer space. Little do they know that these garbage possess superpowers that will transform them from outcasts to their barangay’s greatest superheroes collectively called The ScAvengers.

This is the fourth year that Bert de Leon is calling the shots as director of Bubble Gang’s anniversary episode. “This is bigger and better than our special last year,” he proudly said.

“The ScAvengers” will be shown on November 15 and 22 on GMA Telebabad.

One of the mainstays of “Bubble Gang” who is very happy she is part of the show is sexy actress Kim Domingo.

The show was able to capitalize on Kim’s image as a sexy actress. One of the much awaited is the segment titled Patikim ni Kim, which is about Kim’s cooking skills. But the main focus of the gag is Kim’ sexiness.

The sexy actress said that whenever she goes to the mall, people recognize her because they see her on “Bubble Gang” every Friday night.

She doesn’t mind being asked to wear bikini or something sexy on the show. “Bubble Gang” supports her image as a sexy star. So whenever Kim is asked to wear something sexy, she does it wholeheartedly.

Vanjoss Bayaban is the newly-minted “The Voice Kids” champion and he went home with a P2 million prize money after the grand finals of the reality singing competition at the Resorts World Manila on Sunday.

Vanjoss, who is from Team Sarah, is giving his prize money to his parents to secure the future of his siblings. He also plans to buy a luxury car.

From the start it was pretty obvious that Vanjoss is a favorite of Coach Sarah G as she always chooses him in every stage of the competition till he reached the grand finals.

Vanjoss said he prayed for his victory, so he was overwhelmed with joy upon winning.

Just like any contest, some people are happy with the result while the fans of Vanjoss’ competitors are not. Some of them are questioning Vanjoss overwhelming victory via text voting, adding that the kid is not as good as the other competitors.

Even if they are saying that he won because of the text votes of Sarah’s Popsters, they cannot deny that if Vanjoss is not that good enough, the Popsters would not have supported him at all.

Let us give it to the kid. He deserves it.
