CEBU, Philippines — A 21-year-old Business Administration graduate edged out 21 other candidates to be crowned Miss City of Talisay 2019, Monday night at the Talisay City Sports Complex.

Representing Barangay Poblacion, Maria Angelica Pantaliano, who said in a post-coronation interview that only a few managed to come and support her, instantly became the crowd favorite after her Q&A performance.

Asked how she can help promote Talisay City, Pantaliano said, “I will be the walking billboard for Talisay City to promote its culture and diversity. I know that Talisay City is not just our city to live in but our city to live by.”

Aside from the crown, Pantaliano was named Best in Talent, Miss Photogenic, Best in Fun Wear, and Miss Azzela Properties.

Succeeding Miss City of Talisay 2018 Jesselle Saniel, Pantaliano said she felt overwhelmed to have all her hard work pay off.

The University of San Carlos graduate, who majored in Marketing Management, also dedicated the victory to her mother, calling her the very reason for who she is today.

“She has inspired me so much, even if she’s a single mother,” she said.

No stranger to pageants, Pantaliano finished among the Top 10 finalists of Miss Bikini Philippines 2017, was a Miss Mandaue 2018 Fitness and Talent Awardee, and dominated the Mutya Pilipinas Cebu 2019 search in July by nabbing awards for Best in Production Number, Best in Resort Wear and Best in Evening Gown. Along with two other Cebuanas, she represented Cebu in this year’s Mutya Pilipinas pageant, although they all failed to bring home a crown.

Pantaliano bounced back quickly though, signing up for Binibining Cebu 2019 where she made the cut as this year’s delegate for the town of Minglanilla.

Making up Pantaliano’s court are first runner-up Lindsey Kate Heslop (also a McDonald Smile and Miss Appetizer awardee), second runner-up Jewel Alexei Buot Image (Best in Evening Gown, Best in Swimwear, and Miss JF Models), third runner-up Niña Danielle Illustrisimo and fourth runner-up Dj Mae Dente (Miss Cebu Safari & Adventure Park).

Other awardees are Fate Sanico for Miss Globe Philippines and Social Media; Lindsey Sanico for Miss Body and Sole and Miss Cocoline; Charmaine Geraldizo for Media’s Choice and Best in Runway; and Krysta Belle Capa for Miss Friendship.
