CEBU, Philippines — As fixtures in Cebu’s modeling, pageant, entertainment and events scenes, the following women may know a thing or two about beauty. After gracing the GT Cosmetics fashion show held recently at Robinsons Galleria to celebrate the Cebu brand’s 25th anniversary, beauty queens and models Apriel Smith, Steffi Aberasturi, Kim Covert, and Tracy Maureen Perez, as well as ABS-CBN and events host Phoebe Kaye Fernandez and Blinky De Leon lay down their fair share of beauty anecdotes, including tips that come in handy on and off stage.

Apriel Smith

Among Cebu’s top models and beauty queens, Binibining Cebu 2017 Apriel Smith is a distinct and unforgettable face in the scene. It comes as no surprise that her go-to looks are often bold and dramatic as her poses.

What’s the beauty item you can’t leave the house without?

Kilay and lipstick! I had this friend who told me na you don’t need to have a full-face foundation everyday. Just put on red lipstick and you’re good to go!

What’s the beauty trend you’re really into these days?

Lipstick jud ko. I like full lips. I like them dark and OA.

What beauty tip do you swear by?

Just always wash your face. Put on cream before applying makeup or foundation. Make sure you get good sleep, like eight to 10 hours of sleep. And prayers.

Steffi Aberasturi

For bright and sunny Steffi Aberasturi, it’s all about keeping things simple. The reigning Binibining Cebu title-holder, who is seen from one event and endorsement after the other, is actually a big fan of the effortless bare-faced look, making sure her natural beauty stands out.

What’s the beauty item you can’t leave the house without?

Lip tint. I usually bring it with me so I can use it on my lips and cheeks.

What’s the beauty trend you’re really into these days?

Light makeup. The bare-faced look, I love that. That’s my go-to: bare-face, no make-up at all.

What beauty tip do you swear by?

Always wash your face. I make sure to clean my face after every event. Even though I’m so tired, I always get up and wash my face. I like to make sure that I have a clean and fresh face the next day.

What makes you feel the prettiest?

I feel prettiest when I get a good night’s sleep.

Kim Covert

Miss Earth Philippines-Water 2014 and Binibining Cebu Tourism 2018 Kim Covert is a busybody. Not only is she a model, but Kim is also a host, but above all a mother to her little boy Sol Genesis. On a daily basis, the country’s Miss Multiverse 2019 bet likes a sensible look to complement her as she happily gets through the day.

What’s the beauty item you can’t leave the house without?

I don’t use a lot of makeup on a daily basis, but because of the weather, I do need my lip balm to make sure my lips are hydrated.

What’s the beauty trend you’re really into these days?

Lip tint. They’re very lightweight and simple, you can carry them around in your purse. My go-to look is that I use blush and bronzer for my eyes and cheeks, then contour, and a really good foundation underneath.

What beauty tip do you swear by?

Always drink water! And also, take off your makeup before sleeping. Mao jud na.

What makes you feel the prettiest?

Happy girls are the prettiest.

Tracy Maureen Perez

Despite gracing fashion shows and posing for photo shoots, Binibining Cebu Charity 2018 Tracy Maureen Perez is more of a simple soul, opting to be low-key when it comes to her beauty preferences and veering away from complicated looks.

What’s the beauty item you can’t leave the house without?

Just powder. I usually like bringing baby powder and loose powder. I use it to freshen up and humot sad siya. It’s very simple. I usually don’t bring any makeup, just my baby powder.

What’s the beauty trend you’re really into right now?

I really like the simple ones. Not too edgy or too bright. I treat myself like a normal person.

What beauty tip do you swear by?

Don’t leave your baby powder! It’s a life-saver! Also, make sure to remove your makeup. Though I don’t wear makeup every day, but since at shows we use a lot of foundation, I make sure to remove it after to keep the pimples away.

What makes you feel the prettiest?

I value my family’s opinion the most, and my friends are very honest with me. So when they say I look good or that I did well, I would believe that.

Phoebe Kaye Fernandez

Not only a TV and events host, Phoebe Kaye Fernandez also runs a salon meant to make patrons look and feel good. In the morning, she’s on TV doing “Maayong Buntag Kapamilya,” and apart from handling her business, she can be seen hosting events for the rest of the day. So a product that gives the most support throughout the whole day is a must.

What’s the beauty item you can’t leave the house without?

Definitely the GT moisturizing facial cream. That’s what I use as sort of my foundation every time I do “Maayong Buntag Kapamilya.” It leaves your skin fresh and the powder finish brings out your natural blush. I can’t live without my moisturizing facial cream. As well as the lotion. Honest to goodness! I’ve been using GT for eight to ten years now. It protects your skin and without it my skin feels dry.

What’s the beauty trend you’re really into these days?

Highlighter! I put on highlighter on my nose to give the impression that I’m very fresh. It’s one of the beauty trends that I apply. And also the drunk blush!

What beauty tip do you swear by?

Take care of your skin. Do not sleep with makeup on. Wash, toner, moisturizer. Your natural face, your face without makeup on is mao ang pinaka-nindot. That’s the irony of it. So I live by the golden rule to take care of your skin.

Blinky De Leon

As a TV and events host, Blinky De Leon is familiar with the pressure of looking your best as much as possible. She has spent time finding out what suits her and what doesn’t, learning many lessons about beauty and self-esteem along the way. Blinky, who manages the Self Esteem Learning Formation Institute (SELFi), stresses the balance between appreciating the power of makeup and embracing ones’ unique beauty.

What’s the beauty item you can’t leave the house without?

Definitely the eyebrow kit from GT Cosmetics. Trust me, my face is incomplete without it because I’m not really gifted with eyebrows. Your eyebrows frame your face, so if I have them, I’m good to go.

What’s the beauty trend you’re really into these days?

Matte finish. I don’t always put on shimmer because I have oily skin. I also like cheek tint, it makes me look more sun-kissed and more blooming. I’m very pale so I need color on my face. I believe that with or without other people, you need to blush!

What beauty tip do you swear by?

If you glow from within, you shine on the outside too. But if it doesn’t show, then makeup can do the trick. But I don’t like wearing makeup every day. You don’t have to rely on it on a daily basis because it’s also harmful to the skin. I guess my beauty tip would be to let your original, natural, authentic self shine through. Embrace who you are. There are so many products out there and you don’t know which one to use, there’s so many trends and ways to make yourself beautiful but don’t stress out.

What makes you feel the prettiest?

I feel the prettiest when I am at peace with myself.
