Lifestyle Anthology: A curated ode to conscious living in Cebu

Ehda M. Dagooc - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines — Amid Cebu’s growing creative corridor, Lifestyle Anthology arrives not merely as a showroom—but as a 1,100-square meter statement.

Set within a space that exudes quiet elegance, this new two-story design hub soft opened in September 2024, inviting the island’s design-forward clientele into a world where bespoke craftsmanship meets sustainable sophistication.

A Vision Rooted in Design

At the helm is a collective of five entrepreneurs, led by seasoned entrepreneurs Anna Ng, Davidson and Gwen Chiong, in partnership with architectural and interior design duo Marvin Albert G. Mariñas and Sheryl Mariñas, who serve as Operations and Creative Directors, respectively. Both licensed practitioners and long-time collaborators in the high-end residential and office furnishings scene, the Mariñas pair brings with them over a decade of experience—and a design sensibility that’s as refined as it is responsive.

The ethos of Lifestyle Anthology is simple yet striking: to offer curated, intentional pieces that speak to the modern Filipino homeowner’s growing taste for form, function, and environmental stewardship.

With Cebu long hailed as a global export powerhouse for premium furniture, the collective sees this as the moment to recenter the narrative back to local design—not only as artisanship, but as culture and legacy.

Sustainability as Sophistication

While the showroom currently carries an eclectic mix of home and office furnishings, the team is actively developing exclusive lines in partnership with micro furniture makers, local artisans, and emerging Filipino designers. A growing number of the collection integrates sustainable materials: think reclaimed pine wood, natural stone, and polyresin composites designed to reduce reliance on plastic-based synthetics. A capsule collection of recycled-fabric curtains—crafted with low-impact dyes—is set to debut.

More than a trend, sustainability here is an aesthetic and ethical commitment. “We don’t just curate by look—we choose each piece for the way it’s made, the story it tells, and the legacy it supports,” said Sheryl Mariñas.

For the Discerning and the Devoted

The hub caters to a niche yet growing clientele: homeowners with cultivated tastes, interior designers with discerning eyes, and hoteliers sourcing for bespoke bulk orders. From custom-made stone accent pieces to high-design seating built for tropical climates, Lifestyle Anthology’s offerings respond to a demand that was once underserved in Cebu—the mid to high-end market looking for pieces that marry soul with scale.

Anchored in a building that once a warehouse, now reimagined through adaptive reuse, the showroom itself reflects its design philosophy: preserve what matters, evolve with purpose.

Design, Reimagined

Lifestyle Anthology also promotes the value of working with licensed architects and designers, offering a design lab space for collaboration, consultation, and co-creation. Future partnerships with organizations like the Philippine Institute of Interior Designers (PIID) are in the pipeline, reinforcing the brand’s mission to elevate professional practice and local design literacy.

In an industry often driven by trends, Lifestyle Anthology opts for a slower, more meaningful approach: elegance with roots, quality with conscience, and design that speaks quietly but lasts loudly.
