AMICIS Basketball: Titans, RCBC advance to quarterfinals as top seeds

CEBU, Philippines —  The Titans and RCBC GAMSI barged into the quarterfinal round as top seeds in their respective brackets in the 30-above division of the Amicis Basketball League (ABL) Season 2 in Consolacion, Cebu.

Symun Praca sizzled with 27 points while Larry Malagar tallied 24 markers as the rampaging Titans whacked Artera, 112-103, to complete a spectacular seven-game sweep in bracket B.

The Prayboys and Artera both finished with 5-2 win-loss records but the Prayboys came out as the No.2 qualifier by virtue of a higher tiebreaker.

Welmer Paloma exploded for 39 as the Prayboys notched their fifth victory at the expense of Gemini, 112-102. Paloma was backed up by Kevin Genobia and Alfie Dionson with 27 and 12 points, respectively,

On the other hand, the 032 Kicks By Miller sealed the fourth and last quarterfinal spot in bracket B with a 4-3 mark.

032 Kicks' 87-71 demolition of the Amigos vaulted them to the final eight, thanks to the 25-point show of Dhale Trazona and the identical 18 points submitted by Annex Anajao and Jerome Garcia.

In bracket A, RCBC GAMSI claimed the top spot with a 6-1 slate.

RCBC ended its campaign in the classification stage with a 111-89 rout of Top Gun. Lemuel Calea, Tobis and Jorge Ermac showed the way for RCBC with 54 combined points.

The Miners, Alfa Wanbatz and Persecutors figured in a triple-tie with similar 5-2 cards but the Miners ranked second courtesy of a superior tiebreak output followed by Alfa Wanbatz and Persecutors. — EBV
