CEBU, Philippines —  The GT Northeast Academy (GTNA) based in Liloan, Cebu announced the expansion of its learning grounds with the introduction of Recreational and Events Center (REC).

The center, which is located in a 4,233-square meter property in Gemilina St., Brgy. Tayud, Liloan, serves as training grounds for students of GTNA to apply what they have learned in an actual business setting.

According to GTNA School Director Jonathan Aaron Salvane, the facilities at GTNA-REC like its hotel rooms, will give their students a glimpse of the actual operations in the hospitality industry.

“In terms of our TLE [Technology and Livelihood Education] curriculum, we are eyeing on giving our students a hands-on experience. We hope to use the hotel as a venue for our students to learn practical and on-field skills on business management that they can use in the future,” he said.

GTNA-REC has 10 hotel rooms – deluxe, suite, and connecting rooms. With its location, families can enjoy a place to relax that’s away from the hustle and bustle of the metro, but not too far.

The Center also has a function hall that can accommodate up to 120 persons.

On top of these amenities, GTNA-REC boasts of a Semi-Olympic Pool that can cater to trainings and competitions with a depth of 6-7 feet, with a Lagoon Pool (4 to 5 feet deep) that is perfect for relaxing, enjoying, and just having fun. For the little ones, they have a Jacuzzi Style Pool that is 3-feet deep.

GTNA-REC can also host poolside events and parties which grants exclusive use of the lagoon pool area, as well as their five cabanas.

GTNA-REC will also be the venue for swimming lessons which will be integrated in the PE curriculum of the students of GTNA. Its event areas will also be secondary venues where the school can hold its activities and seminars.

“In the future, we also plan to hold swimming competitions here to create a competent swimming community in Liloan. Who knows, maybe the next swimming Olympian of the Philippines would come from our community,” Salvane said.

GTNA continues its pursuit of discovering and training brilliant students in the northeastern part of Cebu. GTNA-REC will serve as a marketing strongpoint of the school in enticing new enrollees who can benefit from the many amenities and offerings of the school.

Salvane added that GTNA aims to be premier Business, Entrepreneurial, Science, and Technology (BEST) school in Cebu by 2025, which is anchored on the school’s strong adherence to science and technology research, business entrepreneurship, and the multi-discipline of social sciences, including robotics.

GTNA is a sister company of GT Cosmetics Manufacturing Inc. It began construction in March 2013 and was completed a year after in March 2014.

The academy started full operation in June 2014 with Preschool and Grade School. Now, it also offers Junior High School and Senior High School.

In April 7, 2015, the school was awarded Government Recognition for the Preschool, Elementary and Secondary Education Courses.

Last April 2018, the school has been granted a Certification Status for having met the standards and completed the requirements of the Certification Program of the Private Education Assistance Committee (PEAC) for the Educational Service Contracting (ESC) of the GASTPE program of the Department of Education.
