CEBU, Philippines — AppleOne Properties’ Inc., (API) has announced to build another integrated development next year in Banawa area, Cebu City.

This will be the company’s second micro-township development following the introduction of its “Mahi” project in Lapu-Lapu City at the Mactan Export Zone (MEZ 1).

API will soon announce the details of the project, which is part of the company’s aggressive move in capitalizing the lucrative tourism and property sectors in the country.

Its first integrated project Mahi is a new concept that will integrate industrial, commercial, and residential components. It sits on a 7,500 square meter property with spaces carefully allocated to the business and lifestyle sectors: 30 percent to IT facilities, 29 percent to common utility and facility, and 41 percent to hotel and retail spaces. This will translate to a 5-storey structure with IT capabilities, 2 floors of office spaces, 3 floors of commercial and retail spaces, a rooftop bar and restaurant.

The development is the site of the first Fairfield Hotel by Marriott signed into contract in the Philippines, which will offer 180 room accommodations.

API President and CEO Ray Go Manigsaca expressed confidence on the tourism growth in the Philippines, especially in Visayas and Mindanao areas, thus his company is putting bulk of its capital expenditure (capex) to development tourism facilities like hotels and resorts, including commercial buildings, and integrated developments.

Earlier, the company also announced its entry to boutique hotel developments in regional areas.

At least 10 boutique hotels will be built in 10 cities in Visayas and Mindanao in three years.

The company, which has already built several hotels (Diamond Suites & Residences, Apple Tree Resort & Hotel, and Apple Tree Suites Cebu) and has existing partnerships with Sheraton and Marriott hotel brands, will be creating its own regional hotel brand that would manage its string of properties that will be situated in emerging cities in Southern Philippines, including parts of Luzon like Palawan.

AppleOne will start the development of its boutique hotel brand in Cebu, Butuan and Dipolog cities before the end of this year, while other target destinations include; Iligan, Cagayan de Oro, Butuan, Palawan, Clark, among others.

API is the developer of the first mixed use development in the region’s premier business district, AppleOne Equicom Tower in the Cebu Business Park, as well as the first gated condominium in the region, AppleOne Banawa Heights.

Its subsidiary AppleOne Mactan, Inc. is the developer of the forthcoming five-star Sheraton Cebu Mactan Resort and the first Sheraton-branded residence in Southeast Asia, The Residences at Sheraton Cebu Mactan Resort.
