Filipino Homes slates first PropTech meetup

CEBU, Philippines — Cebu is going to spearhead the creation of a community composed of software developers, programmers and IT professionals to support the vibrant real estate business in the Philippines.

Initiated by real estate service company, Filipino Homes, a Property Technology (PropTech) Meetup will be held in Cebu on Friday, September 20, at the Laguna Garden Cafe in Ayala Center Cebu, announced Filipino Homes founder Anthony Gerard O. Leuterio.

The event, which is in partnership with Symph, a technology company composed of designers and developers that create digital solutions such as web apps, mobile apps and custom software, hopes to gather design creators, software developers, programmers, to create a pro-active community that supports the property sector’s race to compete.

Leuterio, who recently completed a digital disruption course program in Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Sloan School of Management and Oxford University-Business School, said they want to create a strong network of designers and programmers in Cebu that the real estate industry could easily tap into.

He claimed that this is the first of its kind event in the country, wherein meeting of creative minds will be focused on supporting the real estate sector.

“We wanted to modernize the property industry and provide a better experience, hopefully, eliminating the pain points associated of doing business in this industry,” Leuterio explained adding that more PropTech Meetup events will be held in other parts of the country.

It is important for the property sector remain competitive and relevant in this technology and design-driven economy, he said.

PropTech is the use of IT to help individuals and companies research, buy, sell and manage real estate. PropTech uses digital innovation to address the needs of the property industry.

The Cebu PropTech session could be the starting point where they can exchange and incubate ideas that would improve the value chain of the industry, at the same time quantify the creative talents available in Cebu, added Leuterio.

Filipino Homes recently launched its mobile app to help buyers access the wide array of real estate listings across the country.   The app, gives buyers convenience as they can select which brokers to tap with and do direct negotiations real time.

Other than introducing apps, Leuterio believes that designers and developers can create more digital solutions to make the real estate industry globally competitive. (FREEMAN)
