Duty Free to showcase Pinoy export products
CEBU, Philippines — State-run Duty Free Philippines, Corp., (DFP) announced its aggressive stance to promote export-quality Philippine products to its chain of stores nationwide.
DFP chief operating officer (COO) Vicente Pelagio A. Angala reiterated Duty Free’s commitment to promote local products yesterday during its participation at the CAPA Centre for Aviation LCCs in North Asia Summit.
“Events like this give an opportunity to introduce Duty Free Philippines especially to local brands. This also serves as a marketing tool for MSMEs to gain access to the international market,” said Angala.
According to Angala, export-quality local products will take the spotlight in Duty Free Philippines, not just to showcase the Filipino culture but also provide a marketing tool for micro, small and medium enterprise (MSMEs) to gain access to the global market.
One of the ways to promote local products, aside from putting them in prominent shelves in its stores nationwide, is to display these products to the growing MICE (meeting, incentives, conferences and exhibitions) events hosted by the Philippines like the CAPA LCC Summit.
During the two-day conference, which is attended by over 300 foreign delegates composed of North Asia’s low-cost carrier decision makers, DFP distributed a piece of Philippine local products, especially items that are sold in Go Lokal! kiosks in DFP outlets.
DFP, which is an attached agency of the Department of Tourism (DOT) also announced to open more stores in Panglao Island in Bohol and another one in Palawan. (FREEMAN)
