Cebu Business Month 2019 to center on innovation

CEBU, Philippines — This year’s Cebu Business Month (CBM 2019) celebration calls on companies to seriously implement innovation in order to stay competitive in the game.

CBM 2019 chairperson Lilu Aliño said that bannering the “Innovation in Action” theme this year, organizers aim to empower local companies to take advantage of innovation and the perks of technology to stay ahead amid the stiff global competition.

“Innovation in Action through concrete programs, events and collaborations aims to empower MSMEs (micro, small, and medium enterprises) through innovations that deliver real benefits, drive growth and increase business productivity,” Aliño said.

Coming from last year’s theme “Innovate Cebu,” the Cebu Business Month this year levels up to support the local innovators.

Organized by the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI, the 23rd CBM 2019 will emphasize Cebu’s wealth in innovation, and it will also showcase Cebu’s innovative success stories.

Chaired by marketing and advertising guru Aliño, the month-long event happens every June in Cebu.

CBM 2019 expects to attract more local entrepreneurs.

“Beyond inspiring people to embrace innovations, its high time for Cebu drive innovation and bring in its benefits,” said Aliño.

According to Aliño, CBM 2019 promises bolder and brighter events. What is exciting, she added, is the participation of more international players in various events and exhibitions.

CBM 2018 attempted to flaunt Cebu as the innovation powerhouse.

This year, Aliño said, actions will be introduced the maximize the innovative wealth of Cebu, including already the strengthened partnership with Kapatid Mentor Me (KMME) program of Department of Trade and Industry and the Philippine Center for Entrepreneurship -Go Negosyo.

In tourism, Aliño said CBM’s tourism signature event “Lumba’g Laag” will showcase the hidden treasures of the northern corridor of Cebu. (FREEMAN)
