CEBU, Philippines — Ayala-led telecommunications firm, Globe Telecom Inc., expressed commitment for the commercial roll out of its fixed wireless 5G At Home services by the second quarter of next year.

In a statement, Globe Telecom said it intends to get ahead in the introduction of the 5th generation wireless technology in the Philippines

“Globe has fired up over 200 5G-ready cell sites using massive MIMO technology. This new 5G technology provides vast capacity, coverage, and reliability for the 5G future,” the company said.

As early as 2016, Globe has started to prepare its network for 5G technology by commercially deploying massive MIMO using 2CC carrier aggregation, which doubles up our LTE capacity. “In the short term, we will continue to add capacity to our network as evidenced by continuous investment support by our shareholders,” the statement added.
