Cooking with mom is always an act of love
MANILA, Philippines — Food has a way of bringing people together, especially families. Cooking has a way of sharing a family’s history, culture and love. It teaches kids important skills while creating memorable bonding moments with the parents. Indeed, cooking is a perfect activity during Mother’s Day.
In a special Mother’s Day video prepared by The Philippine STAR, we see mothers Janet Briones Berg and Kathy Lerma-Mallari teaching their children how to prepare family recipes. “For my daughter Beatrice’s con?rmation party, she wanted me to make a cake with ?owers. For months, I practiced how to make it with the help of a friend who was a baker,” shared Janet. “Con?rmation is a big celebration here in Norway; it’s the equivalent of a debut. On the day of her party, the cake was a success.”
For Kathy and her children, Lulu and Kiko, making their version of tuna nuggets is a fun family bonding activity.
It is in moments such as these where relationships grow stronger as you talk about anything under the sun while mixing ingredients and cooking together.
