Chery Tiggo wears down Capital1

MANILA, Philippines — Chery Tiggo cleared the cobwebs from their long break and scored a 20-25, 25-23, 25-12, 28-26 victory over Capital1 yesterday in the PVL on Tour at the Ynares Center Montalban.
Former La Salle stalwart Jyne Soreño had an auspicious debut as she fired 15 points including 14 on kills as the Crossovers claimed their first victory and moved near the top of the stacked Pool B.
“I was nervous but our elders in the team kept telling us to just play and helped us ease off the pressure,” said the promising opposite spiker who was tabbed at eighth overall in last month’s rookie draft.
Chery Tiggo coach Norman Miguel lauded their senior players for guiding the newbies.
“I’m so happy that we won and our rookies performed well with the support of the seniors,” he said.
The Solar Spikers stumbled to their third straight defeat.
PVL Notes: Alas Pilipinas succumbed to Chinese Taipei, 25-17, 26-24, 25-22, to finish fourth in the VTV Cup in Vietnam.
