MANILA, Philippines — Rico Hoey failed to save his campaign in The American Express as he turned in his worst round of four-over 76 Sunday to wind up tied for 58th in California.
It was a woeful ending for the Filipino ace, who even shared pole position at the halfway mark on account of a career-best 63 in the second round only to falter in weekend play.
Hoey finished the $8.8 million tournament at 10-under 278 – 15 shots off Austrian winne Sepp Straka (263 after a closing 70).
