MANILA, Philippines — Over a month after their unceremonious exit in the last conference, TNT and NLEX are roaring at full throttle in the PBA Governors’ Cup.

The Tropang Giga and the Road Warriors kicked into high gear early and sideswiped their first two opponents to build a strong foundation to their respective bounceback drives.

Sustaining this momentum is foremost in their minds today when the TNT troops of coach Jojo Lastimosa and the NLEX crew of coach Frankie Lim collide to dispute win No. 3 and a piece of pole position with idle Converge (3-0).

Game time is 5:45 p.m. at the PhilSports Arena.

“We’re a tough team right now. I can see a lot of toughness from our players and that’s a good sign,” Lim said after NLEX’ victories over Blackwater (124-102) and NorthPort (121-112).

Fancied import Jonathon Simmons stood at the forefront of this early success as he kept his end of the deal with the Road Warriors so far. Committed for only four games, former NBA player Simmons vowed to lead NLEX to a sweep before he leaves for China.

“That’s the deal,” he said.

Lastimosa’s TNT passed its initial tests from two tough squads Phoenix (123-119) and Rain or Shine (105-100).
