Crucial tiff pits PLDT, Creamline
MANILA, Philippines — PLDT Home Fibr and Creamline battle for the solo lead even as Cignal and Army Black Mamba fight for survival in the Premier Volleyball League Invitational at the Ynares Center in Antipolo today.
The Power Hitters are bent on keeping hold of the solo lead after nailing their second straight win at the expense of the HD Spikers, their sister squad, 15-25, 25-13, 25-23, 25-23, last Thursday.
The Cool Smashers, for their part, walloped the Lady Troopers, 25-21, 23-25, 25-19, 25-17, and could seize the solo lead if they hurdle PLDT in their 5:30 p.m. showdown.
The reigning Open Conference champions will set out for a repeat over PLDT, which they defeated, 25-22, 25-16, 25-21, in their elimination-round meeting two weeks ago.
Creamline is expected rely heavily again on the power duo of Open Conference MVP Tots Carlos and skipper Alyssa Valdez, who unleashed 24 and 18 points, respectively, in their last outing.
