San Beda in must-win game vs SSC
MANILA, Philippines — San Sebastian College tries to put one foot in the Final Four while San Beda aims to breathe life to its own campaign when they collide today in the 97th NCAA women’s volleyball at the Paco Arena.
A win for the Lady Stags, currently at No. 3 with a 4-2 record, in their 12 p.m. duel with the Red Spikers would push them closer to the semis alongside pacesetting St. Benilde (7-0) and Arellano U (6-1).
San Beda, at 2-4, must sweep its last three assignments to have a shot at the fourth and last berth in the playoffs.
SSC coach Roger Gorayeb said they need to show desire to make it far after his team suffered a 25-11, 25-22, 25-14 beating from St. Benilde last Friday.
“We have to play with fire and fight through the challenges,” said Gorayeb, the most titled of all coaches in the league having won all but two of his school’s 23 women’s titles in the first and oldest collegiate league in the land.
