MANILA, Philippines — College of St. Benilde overpowered San Sebastian College, 25-11, 25-22, 25-14, yesterday to stay untouchable in the 97th NCAA volleyball tournament at the Paco Arena.

Jade Gentapa unleashed 17 points while also playing solid defense with 10 digs to power the pacesetting Lady Blazers to their sixth straight victory.

Gayle Pascual was also instrumental by chipping in 13 hits while skipper Mycah Go was all over the floor, logging nine points, nine receptions and four digs.

The Blazers’ win came at the expense of the Roger Gorayeb-mentored San Sebastian squad that is tipped to challenge Benilde for the crown.

But on this particular day, CSB showed who’s the boss as it sent SSC to its second defeat against four triumphs.

The Lady Blazers also held Reyan Canete to her season-low four points after coming into the showdown with a league-leading 19 points a game average.

“We just prepared hard for this game,” said CSB coach Jerry Yee.

In the other game, San Beda downed Mapua, 25-20, 14-25, 25-23, 25-23, to improve to 2-4.

The Lady Cardinals slipped to 3-3.
