MANILA, Philippines — Cebu Chooks ruled the 2022 Chooks-to-Go FIBA 3x3 Asia Pacific Super Quest, completing a tournament sweep highlighted by a feisty 17-15 win over Mongolia’s Sansar in the finale at the Ayala Malls Solenad in Sta. Rosa, Laguna last Saturday.

Mac Tallo sizzled with eight markers in the title match, including the dagger basket as Cebu Chooks became the second Philippine team to win a FIBA 3x3 tourney since Manila West won the 2014 Manila Masters.

Also featuring Brandon Ramirez, Zach Huang and Cameroonian Mike Harry Nzeusseu, Cebu Chooks swept all of its five matches to book a ticket to the Chooks-to-Go FIBA 3x3 World Tour Manila Masters on May 28 and 29, on top of winning the grand prize of $10,000.

“Gusto namin dalhin itong momentum na ito sa mga upcoming tournaments pa namin. Kaunti pa lang ito kung maituturing sa results na gusto namin,” said Tallo, the No. 1 3x3 player in the country.

Cebu Chooks topped Pool B with wins against Tangerang of Indonesia, 21-12, Mongolia’s Sansar, 14-12, and fellow local team Butuan Chooks, 21-10.

The Philippine club then trumped Manila Chooks, made up of Mark Yee, Chico Lanete, Dennis Santos and reinforcement Henry Iloka of Nigeria, 17-14, to punch a finals ticket.
