Yuka stays in hunt, Bianca bows out
MANILA, Philippines — Fil-Japanese Yuka Saso stayed in the hunt but Bianca Pagdanganan bombed out completely as the Tokyo Olympics teammates suffered contrasting fates after the first 36 holes of the Gainbridge LPGA in Boca Raton, Florida yesterday.
Saso shot a two-under 70 to go seven-under 137 after two rounds, four strokes behind joint leaders Lydia Ko of New Zealand (70) and Danielle Kang of the United States (68).
The 20-year-old Saso shared third spot with Englishwoman Jodi Ewart Shadoff, who turned in a second-round 69, going to the moving day at the Boca Rio Golf Club.
Pagdanganan, however, struggled big time and carded a woeful four-over 76 marred by a double-bogey and a triple-bogey in the last eight holes.
Pagdanganan, 24, failed to make the weekend play with her four-over 148.
