Que 16th in Singapore tilt
MANILA, Philippines — Angelo Que finished joint 16th in the Singapore International after closing strong with a two-under 70 yesterday at the Tanah Merah Country Club.
Rebounding from his horrendous 80 in the previous round, Que submitted nines of 34-36 to end the $1-million event at five-over 293 and salvage a Top 20 finish.
Que was among the contenders early on as his 72-71 start placed him in fourth and just four strokes off the pace going into moving day.
But Saturday’s woeful 38-42 outing pulled the Filipino parbuster down to 29th and facing an 11-shot deficit with 18 holes left.
Que began his final round at the Tampines Course with a birdie followed by a mix of two bogeys and three birdies to make the turn at two-under. He then bogeyed No. 10 but offset it with a birdie on the 18th.
In the end, Que finished nine off champion Kim Joohyung of Korea (70) and runner-up Rattanon Wannasrichan of Thailand (72), who pooled identical 284s.
