Kings thwart LeBron's Lakers to end skid; Nets' Big 3 blow out Bulls
MANILA, Philippines – The Sacramento Kings put an end to a losing slump at the expense of the Los Angeles Lakers 125-116, in a tightly contested affair at the Golden 1 Center in Sacramento on Wednesday (Thursday, Manila time).
Chimezie Metu converted on a dagger triple with 46.7 ticks left to pad the lead to seven, 123-116, and put the Kings permanently on top.
The Kings used third salvo where they outscored the Lakers, 40-23, to reverse a deficit as big as 14 points in the first half of the game.
De'Aaron Fox paced the Kings with 29 points while Harrison Barnes scattered 23.
LeBron James, meanwhile, had a game-high 34 points for the Lakers, who were without Anthony Davis.
Russell Westbrook, for his part, struggled with only eight points on 2-of-14 shooting.
The Lakers absorbed their second loss in a row and are back to .500 with a 21-21 slate.
Elsewhere, a full-strength Brooklyn Nets squad made easy work of top East team Chicago Bulls, 138-112.
With James Harden back in the lineup, the Nets put a show on the road where the road team controlled three of the four quarters.
At their most dominant, the Nets led by 38 points.
Kevin Durant and Harden were two of four Nets players who scored more than 20 points with 27 and 25 markers, respectively.
Zach LaVine led the Bulls in the loss with 22 points.
In other games, the Houston Rockets are back in the win column after a 128-124 escape act over the San Antonio Spurs.
The Cleveland Cavaliers, meanwhile, blew past the Utah Jazz, 111-91, behind Darius Garland's first career triple-double.
