64 Cebu City barangays have zero active COVID-19 cases
This also means that the active cases come from only 16 barangays.

CEBU, Philippines —  At least 64 or 80% of Cebu City’s 80 barangays are currently COVID-free, which means they have not had any transmission reported over the last 14 days, data from the Emergency Operations Center showed.

This also means that the active cases come from only 16 barangays.

As of December 6, Cebu City is left with only 42 active cases, including the four new cases added on that day.

The remaining barangays with active cases are Guadalupe, Lahug, Apas, Talamban, Day-as, Basak San Nicolas, Binaliw, Camputhaw, Cogon Pardo, Inayawan, Quiot, Sambag 1, San Antonio, Santa Cruz, Sinsin, and Tejero.

Guadalupe has four active cases based on the EOC's data from November 25 to December 4.

Lahug, on the other hand, is left with three cases while Apas, Talamban, and Day-as each have two cases left. The rest of the named barangays only has one each.

Positivity rate in Cebu City was at 1.42% with only four of 281 tested turning out positive.

The four new cases are under four different age brackets: one is 10-under, another one 11-20, while the other two belong to the 21-30 and 41-50 age groups.

Although cases are going down further, two deaths have been recorded for this month so far.

In November, there were nine Covid-19 deaths noted, which way lower during the third surge in the third quarter of the year when over 700 deaths were recorded.

However, although the COVID-19 situation in the city has improved, EOC deputy chief implementer and City Councilor Joel Garganera still hopes that everyone continue to follow the minimum health protocols, including wearing of face mask, social distancing and regular washing of hands and sanitization plus vaccination. — JMD (FREEMAN)
