PBA 3x3 revises game schedule
MANILA, Philippines — Teams in the PBA 3x3 gear up for morning hostilities from hereon with the Governors’ Cup taking over its old afternoon slot.
The standalone three-a-side competition held games from 2 p.m. onwards for Day 1 and 12:30 p.m. onwards for Day 2 in its first four legs.
But with the import-flavored 5-on-5 tournament firing off tomorrow at the Ynares Sports Arena, the half-court hoopfest will shift to a 9 a.m. opening for the fifth leg this weekend.
“PBA 3x3 will be playing every Saturday and Sunday. Our schedule will be in the morning for now up to 2 p.m.,” PBA 3x3 chairman Dicky Bachmann told The STAR yesterday.
Fast-paced 3x3 action will serve as a curtain-raiser for the Governors’ Cup, which has scheduled a 4 p.m. tipoff for the opening match of its weekend double-headers.
The 13 teams will mix it up in two more legs plus the culminating grand final for the Top 10 in the PBA 3x3’s first conference. After this, there will be two succeeding conferences also composed of six legs and a grand final each.
The TNT Tropang Giga, the Meralco Bolts, the Sista Super Sealers and the Purefoods TJ Titans took turns winning top honors in the initial legs.
“Four legs, iba’t ibang winners. Talagang maganda ang competition,” said commissioner Willie Marcial.
