MANILA, Philippines — After Arwind Santos, another member of San Miguel Beer’s vaunted “Death 5” is heading elsewhere.

Veteran guard Alex Cabagnot is reportedly on his way to the Terrafirma camp with the Beermen poised to “reboot” after failing to regain the PBA crown jewel they last held in 2019.

SMB is said to be working out a trade deal involving Cabagnot to get young guns Simon Enciso and Roosevelt Adams from the Dyip.

The Beermen previously let go of seasoned forward Santos in a deal with NorthPort to tab forward Vic Manuel.

Like Santos, the 38-year-old Cabagnot played a key role in SMB’s magical five-peat run in the Philippine Cup, forming a fearsome unit with June Mar Fajardo, Chris Ross and Marcio Lassiter.

Cabagnot missed a good part of the last All-Filipino due to a torn meniscus on his left knee.  He made it back in time for the playoffs and even scored the winner as San Miguel edged NorthPort, 88-87, in Game 1 of the best-of-three quarterfinals.

Meanwhile, the PBA moves closer to bringing the games back to Metro Manila with the Pasig City government virtually approving the staging of the inaugural 3x3 and the Governors’ Cup at the Ynares Sports Arena.

Pasig Mayor Vico Sotto posted on his official social media accounts that contact sports remain prohibited in the city “unless with special permit like the PBA.”

“Wala pang formal letter pero naglabas na si Mayor Vico sa Facebook na pwede ang PBA. Kaya nagpapasalamat kami sa kanya,” said Commissioner Willie Marcial.

The pro league holds its initial activity for the 3x3 – the draw for the groupings and a media conference – today. Marcial said the 10:30 a.m. affair will be aired live on One Sports and PBA Rush and streamed live on the Facebook pages of Smart Sports and Puso Pilipinas.

The three-a-side league is set to fire off Nov. 20.

“Kasado na ang 3x3,” said Marcial of the competition that features 13 teams and serves as a curtain-raiser for the import-spiced Governors’ Cup.
