Jalen Green named to Mythical Second Team in NBA Summer League
MANILA, Philippines — Filipino-American rookie sensation Jalen Green has been named to the NBA Summer League Mythical Second Team after seeing brief yet impressive action with the Houston Rockets due to a sore hamstring injury.
Green, the No. 2 overall pick, played only three games but lit it up for the Rockets with solid averages of 20.3 points, 4.3 rebounds and 2.0 assists in only 24 minutes of play.
He was joined by first overall selection Cade Cunningham of Detroit with teammate Luke Garza, Philadelphia’s Paul Reed and Chicago’s Patrick Williams.
NBA Summer League Co-MVPs Davion Mitchell of champion Sacramento and Brooklyn’s Cam Thomas, meanwhile, bannered the First Team.
Completing the First Team were Atlanta’s Jalen Johnson, Phoenix’s Jalen Smith, New Orleans’ Trey Murphy III, Boston’s Payton Pritchard and New York’s Obi Toppin.
Meanwhile, assistant coach Jimmy Alapag expressed gratitude to the Sacramento organization and head coach Bobby Jackson for being part of the team's amazing Summer League championship.
“Thankful to have been a part of such a special group of people, from the coaching staff, trainers and support staff, to the players. Watching the team come together over the past few weeks was amazing to watch,” said Alapag as the Kings completed a 5-0 tournament sweep.
Alapag, a Gilas Pilipinas and PBA great, is aiming to land a spot in the regular season coaching staff of the Kings headed by Luke Walton.
