Blue Eagles tap rated Fil-Ams

MANILA, Philippines — The UAAP may still be on hiatus due to the pandemic but reigning champion Ateneo is leaving no stone unturned refining its nest with the acquisition of two Filipino-American prospects.

Winner of three straight titles before the COVID-19 health crisis, the Blue Eagles further beefed up their camps with the addition of Cal State Stanislaus’ Kai Ballungay and Charter Oak High School’s Andrew Bongo.

“It’s very exciting to bring these talented kids into the program and I think it bodes well for not just next year and what we talked about the immediate future,” said coach Tab Baldwin in a press conference the other day.

“But these young men have several years ahead of them contributing to the program and the program contributing to them,” he added.

Bongo, a 6-foot-4 wingman, and the 6-foot-7 forward Ballungay, will be eligible starting in the UAAP Season 84 and 85, respectively,

They will join the Ateneo core led by Ange Kouame, SJ Belangel, Geo Chiu and Dwight Ramos, who are also members of the Gilas Pilipinas pool.
