Arevalo, Fernandez triumph

MANILA, Philippines — San Beda’s Alfritz Arevalo and Jose Rizal’s Emie Fernandez bagged the first two gold medals in taekwondo’s online poomsae event of the 96th NCAA season.

Arevalo broke the ice in the shortened NCAA season by ruling the men’s standard division, garnering 7.217 points to beat College of St. Benilde’s Ivan Murray Solimen and Letran’s Roi Vinson Belano, who took the silver and bronze with 7.134 and 7.083, respectively.

Fernandez topped the women’s section by garnering 7.550 points in this event televised by GMA via its GTV channel.
