Execration crowned king of MSC

John Bryan Ulanday - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — Execration bested Blacklist International in an All-Filipino title duel, 4-1, and bagged the championship in the 2021 Mobile Legends Southeast Asia Cup (MSC) backed by Smart Communications as official partner.

Under the tutelage of Jomie “Pakba1ts” Abalos, Execration dropped the first game before wiping out the next four to claim the regional crown and the $70,000 (over P3 million) grand prize.

It served as sweet redemption for Execration after suffering a 3-4 defeat to Blacklist last month in the Season 7 finals of the Mobile Legends Professional League-Philippines (MPL-PH) that was also supported by Smart.

Similar to their Cinderella run in the MPL, Execration clawed back from the lower bracket playoffs to win the crown behind Joshua “Ch4knu” Mangilog, Renz “Renzio” Cadua, Kiel VJ “Kielvj” Hernandez, Patrick “E2MAX” Caidic and sixth man Billy “Z4pnu” Alfonso.

Duane “Kelra” Pillas was hailed as the MSC Most Valuable Player after tallying 15 kills and five assists with only two deaths in Execration’s title-clinching win in Game 5.

Smart, the country’s leading mobile services provider, also backed the M2 Mobile Legends World Championship won by another Philippine club BREN Esports in Singapore earlier this year.
