Manila Chooks faces heavyweights in Doha

MANILA, Philippines — The new-look Manila Chooks TM seeks to defy the odds against the world’s best 3x3 ball clubs in the FIBA 3x3 World Tour Doha Masters tonight at the Al Gharafa Sports Complex.

Under the watch of seasoned mentor Aldin Ayo, the underdog Philippine squad starts its campaign in the qualifying draw against Austria’s Graz and Qatar’s Doha at 7:30 p.m. and 8:05 p.m., respectively.

It’s a tall order for the rejigged club as only one team from the qualifiers will move on to the tournament proper bannered by powerhouses NY Harlem and Princeton of the United States. But the Manila Chooks TM team of Chico Lanete, Mac Tallo, Zachy Huang and Dennis Santos hopes to pull off surprises.
