MANILA, Philippines – Filipino Jenel Lausa will debut in the Brave Combat Federation as he squares off with Kyrgyzstan’s Ryskulbek Ibraimov in the Brave CF47: Asian Domination in Bahrain tonight.

It will be the 32-year-old Lausa’s first fight in three years after a heartbreaking campaign in the Ultimate Fighting Championship where he won his first bout there only to drop the next three to slip to a 7-5 (win-loss) record.

Lausa was supposed to tackle Afghanistan’s Rahmatullah Yousufzai, unbeaten in all four of his mixed martial arts fights but had to beg off after reportedly testing positive for the COVID-19 pandemic.

Ibraimov was thrown straight into the Lausa duel after the former’s foe in the same card, Kazakhstan’s Asu Almabaev, also contracted the virus and backed out.

And Ibraimov could just be as dangerous as he riding on a seven-fight win streak to hike his record to 18-8 (win-loss).

But Lausa is unfazed.

“I aim to win my debut fight because this is my second chance to prove myself in the MMA industry,” said Lausa.

Lausa will do battle in the card that will headline countryman Rolando Dy, the 2020 Brave CF Fighter of the Year who tangles with Kyrgyzstan’s Abdisalam Kubanychbek in a lightweight world title eliminator that will be streamed live and for free on Brave CF TV.
