Chot back as TNT coach
MANILA, Philippines — The TNT Tropang Giga yesterday welcomed Chot Reyes, architect of four of the franchise’s seven PBA championships, back as head coach as they try to regain their winning ways.
Reyes, who coached TNT from 2008 to 2012, will take over from consultant Mark Dickel and Bong Ravena.
“It’s like a homecoming for Chot,” TNT governor and PBA chairman Ricky Vargas said as he announced Reyes’ appointment last night. “He is a coach that gave us four championships and we look forward to a successful relationship with coach Chot.”
Reyes, 57, will return to coaching after steering Gilas Pilipinas to a stint in the FIBA World Cup in Spain in 2014. He handled the national quintet until 2018.
“Throughout my career, I have always tried to live according to my passion and purpose. My passion has always been coaching and building teams, whether in sports or business. And my purpose is to further the advancement of Filipino coaches, so we can, in turn, help develop the next generation of Filipino leaders,” said the eight-time PBA champion.
