MANILA, Philippines — Fencing, a sport where the country has a chance to qualify an athlete to this year’s Tokyo Olympics, will go into  bubble training, too.

No less than Ormoc City Mayor and Philippine Fencing Association president Richard Gomez wants to host the training camp in his own independent component city in Leyte.

“We recently talked to fencing the other day and we went through their protocols because they are planning to hold a bubble training also,” said Philippine Sports Commission chief of staff and national training director Marc Velasco in One PH’s “The Chasedown” yesterday.

“The local government of Ormoc City under Richard Gomez will take care of it but we’ll still monitor,” he added.

Fencing copped two gold medals in the 2019 Southeast Asian Games. It has  qualified an athlete in the Summer Games in Walter Torres, who saw action in the men’s individual foil in the 1992 Barcelona Games.
