United City FC bags PFL crown
MANILA, Philippines — United City FC put a lock on the Philippines Football League (PFL) title with a game to spare after clobbering Stallion Laguna, 7-1, Friday night at the PFF National Training Center in Carmona, Cavite.
The UCFC booters unleashed five goals in the last 45 minutes to run away with their fourth straight victory and continue the tradition of three-peaters Ceres Negros in the country’s top-flight.
Bienvenido Maranon fired a hat trick (56’, 66’, 74’) while Mike Ott delivered a brace (6’, 52’) to lead United City to the clincher in the penultimate day of the short, single-round robin tourney.
Takadashi Odawara (25’) and OJ Porteria (71’) rounded out the scorers in the comprehensive win, which gave UCFC an unassailable 12-point card going its last assignment against Kaya-Iloilo FC (eight points) on Monday.
