Espejo hops over to Bahrain

Joey Villar - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — Marck Espejo, the best men’s volleyball player in the country today, is bringing his act to Bahrain.

Espejo, a five-time UAAP and Spikers’ Turf MVP and vital cog in the Philippine team’s historic silver-medal finish in the Southeast Asian Games last year, left yesterday to suit up as import for Banri Jamra in the Bahrain Volleyball League.

It’s the latest swing in his journey as an international player, having earlier tours of duty with Oita Miyoshi in the Japan V League then with Visakha in Thailand earlier this year before COVID-19 sent almost everything to a screeching halt.

The 23-year-old 6-2 former Ateneo star is practically serving as ambassador of Philippine men’s volleyball.
