MANILA, Philippines — Naoya Inoue (19-0 16 KOs) has his sights set on locking horns with Filipino boxer John Riel Casimero (30-4 21 KOs) after his title defense against Jason Moloney.

Inoue, who was supposed to have already faced Casimero but was stymied due to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, said that the fighter out of Ormoc City is next on his list.

"I would like to fight Casimero as son as possible to unify the belts," Inoue told The Ring.

"I don't have any [other] names at the moment, but after I get through Moloney, I think opponent names will be presented that everyone will be excited to see," he added.

Casimero recently defended his WBO World Bantamweight title against Duke Micah last September.

Meanwhile Inoue, is staking his WBA (Super), IBF and The Ring bantamweight belts against Moloney on Saturday (Sunday, Manila time).

Casimero and Inoue have had their fair share of word wars regarding their rivalry.

The Filipino fighter was quick to call out the undefeated Japanese boxer immediately after his victory over Micah.

"I'm the real monster. Naoya Inoue is scared of me. You're next," Casimero said that September night.

With Inoue also expressing his willingness to fight the 31-year-old, Inoue and Casimero will likely face off in the ring sooner rather than later.
