PVL seeking new TV partner
MANILA, Philippines – The Premier Volleyball League (PVL) and the Philippine Superliga (PSL), the country’s top volley leagues, may end up being aired on the same network – TV5.
Ricky Palou, president of Sports Vision, which organizes the PVL, said the league is now on the lookout for a news TV partner after its mother broadcaster, ABS-CBN Sports, shut down its operations due to government’s decision not to renew its franchise.
“ABS-CBN had closed down its sports division and would no longer be able to cover PVL,” said Palou in yesterday’s Power & Play show of Noli Eala at Radyo Singko 92.3 News FM.
“We are now looking at other networks as an option,” added Palou.
But first, Palou said he would need to discuss the TV issue with the nine teams in the PVL before making a decision.
“We’re consulting the teams on what they think and if they have any preference. Nothing is final,” he said.
