Cycling races clamped down
MANILA, Philippines — Cycling races around the world have been halted too as the International Cycling Union (UCI) suspended all its events to lend a hand in an all-out race against time during this health crisis.
The UCI announced its decision over the weekend, freezing all events under the international calendar including world tours and Olympic qualifications at least until April 3.
“The Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) announces a series of decisive measures with the aim of ensuring the maximum protection of health of all those involved in cycling events and sporting equity between participants,” said the world governing body.
The UCI has more than 100 events for the 2020 calendar.
