MANILA, Philippines — Philippine Olympic Committee president and Tagaytay Rep. Abraham “Bambol” Tolentino revealed yesterday that the year 2020 ushered in a slew of changes in the leadership of several national sports associations (NSA).

Tolentino looks at the changes with optimism, saying “infusion of fresh blood is always welcome and a sign of dynamism on the part of the NSAs. As long as they comply with all POC requirements, they will be warmly received by the POC General Assembly.”

Skateboarding, rowing, rugby, tournament bridge and canoe kayak had significant movements as they elected or will elect new presidents.

In a letter to Tolentino signed by Ms. Teresita Uy, the latter informed the POC president that in a board meeting on Jan. 29, the Philippine Canoe Kayak Federation Board passed Resolution 2020-01 “designating the undersigned as officer-in-charge and acting president”

Uy also said that during the meeting, “Ms. Jonee Go was replaced as a member of the board by Leonora Escollante.”

The letter also said PCKF will hold elections on March 29.

Tolentino acknowledged the information and said “we will await the results of the election and welcome the new legally elected officials.

The other new presidents are Frederick Santos of rugby, Winston Arpon of tournament bridge, John Patrick Gregorio of rowing and Carl Sembrano of skateboarding.
