Lionesses chalk up third win in row
MANILA, Philippines — San Beda relied on Cesca Racraquin’s heroics as it turned back Letran, 24-26, 25-19, 25-18, 25-17, yesterday to remain undefeated and tie defending champion Arellano University at No. 2 in the 95th NCAA women’s volleyball tournament at the Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan City.
The power-spiking Racraquin went on attack mode and unleashed a match-high 22 points including 17 on kills as the Lionesses zoomed to their third win in row.
San Beda is now tied with AU at second while staying half a game behind the overachieving College of St. Benilde, which leads the way with a pristine 4-0 (win-loss) record.
Nieza Viray and Kim Manzano provided the much-needed help by scattering 12 and nine hits, respectively.
The Lady Knights skidded to 1-2.
In the men’s side, Jeffrey Losa came through big in helping lift San Beda to a 25-16, 23-25, 25-15, 25-20 win over Letran.
In juniors’ action, Letran edged San Beda, 25-20, 25-14, 30-28, to improve to 2-1.
