Zion Williamson scores 22 points in majestic NBA debut for Pelicans
MANILA, Philippines — Zion Williamson did not disappoint in his regular season debut for the New Orleans Pelicans in a narrow 117-121 loss to the San Antonio Spurs on Wednesday (Thursday, Manila time).
The No. 1 overall draft pick exploded for 22 points in just three quarters after going scoreless in the opening salvo.

Williamson was on fire from beyond the arc, going 4-of-4 from the 3-point line — the first player ever to have a perfect clip from beyond the arc in a debut.

Zion Williamson is the only player to go 4-of-4 from three-point range in his NBA debut.
Ever.
No one else had done it since the three-point line was introduced.
Williamson also went on a scathing 17-point run in the final quarter.
The former Duke star's explosion put the Pelicans back in the game in the fourth after playing catch up most of the game.
Williamson is arguably one of the most hyped and followed rookies in the NBA since LeBron James first entered the league back in 2003.
After averaging 23.3 points and 6.5 rebounds per game in the preseason, Williamson had to sit out the first half of the regular season due to a torn meniscus injury.
If his first official NBA game with the Pelicans is anything to go off on, then it seems like Williamson is definitely worth the hype.
