National drag racing fires off today
MANILA, Philippines — Reigning Drag Racer of the Year Arvin Millet and multiple Quick 8 champion Jonathan Tiu stake their respective titles when the 2019 National Drag Racing Championships fires off today and tomorrow with the opener of the Northern Series at Clark International Speedway’s drag strip in Pampanga.
Millet guns for a third successive title in the M&H Pro class, the racing bracket where stricter car preparation rules and limits to engine muscle level the playing field, in the 12-race two-area national series sanctioned by the Automobile Association of the Philippines.
Tiu sets out for another championship run in the elite racing class confined to the competition’s eight quickest muscle cars, the group he has ruled in the last decade primarily with his brute 1,318-hp Nissan GTR.
Also seeking repeat titles are Allan Ararao in the Super Pro class, Chris Jayson Millet (Expert), Ywell Manio (Sportsman) and Mark Martin Pituc (Hotstreet).
