Young Pinay figure skater delivers

MANILA, Philippines —Eleven-year-old Katrina Amber Abrera Cruz, representing SM International Mall of Asia (SMIPH), won four gold medals in the ISIAsia Championship Series 2019 held recently at the Oasis Centre Arena Aeon Mall in Jakarta, Indonesia.

With more than 1,250 events on tap, 400 skaters from Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and the Philippines took part in the Skate Indonesia 2019 that was staged last Oct. 24 to 27.

Under coaches Henry Dumaliang, Dave Alarcon, and Randy Anonuevo, Cruz earned four gold medals in the Freestyle 1 Technical, Solo Compulsory, Footwork and Rhythmic Ball events. She also bagged a silver medal in the Surprise event. 

Currently a Grade 6 student at the Holy Family School of Quezon City, the skater with a very bright future balances her training and studies as she manages to maintain her honor standing in school.
