Philippines belles play PSL Sparkle,

John Bryan Ulanday - The Philippine Star

MANILA,Philippines — Coming off an emphatic straight-set win over their first challengers, the Filipina spikers gun for a second straight win against PSL Sparkle in the PSL Super Cup today at the Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan.

The Nationals took care of business against PSL Shine the other day, pulling off an easy 25-14, 25-18, 25-16 victory which they sure want to replicate in their 7 p.m clash with Team Sparkle, the second select squad assembled by the Superliga to help push the Nationals in their 30th Southeast Asian Games preparation.

A win against Sparkle would prime the volleybelles up for their real acid test tomorrow against All-Japan Inter-collegiate champion University of Tsukuba, which also seeks win No. 2 against PSL Shine in the 5 p.m. curtain raiser.

Coach Shaq delos Santos lauded his wards’ magnificent performance in their last outing which he said was a product of their 12-day Japan camp. But he bats for more, reiterating that they are still far away from their desired form for the SEA Games.

“We saw and we displayed some of the results from our Japan camp but as I’ve said, it’s a process. We’re gonna push ourselves to adopt all the learnings and lessons to reach that level,” said Delos Santos.
