Skywalker’s daughter shows lethal fight form

MANILA, Philippines — Like father, like daughter.

Jamie Lim, daughter of cage legend Samboy Lim, is carving a name in her sports as she recently topped the 2019 Amatör Spor Haftasi Karate Championship in Sakarya, Turkey.

Lim was a dominant force in her division – senior female -68kgs – as she delivered the gold and topped medal harvest of Team Phl including three silvers courtesy of Miyuki Tacay, Rexor Tacay and Ivan Agustin and four bronzes from Mae Soriano, Prince Alejo, Sharief Alejo and Engene Dagohoy.

Lim, a mathematics summa cum laude graduate from University of the Philippines early this year, is a bright gold-medal prospect in the 30th Southeast Asian Games karate competition next month at the World Trade Center in Pasay City.

Team Phl’s fine showing in the Turkey competition concluded its two-month Euro training camp. The squad is handled by Turkish Okay Arpa.

“Our team is right on track with their training and we’re expecting their best performance in the upcoming SEA Games,” said Karate Pilipinas president Richard Lim.
