Red Lions go for sweet sweep

MANILA, Philippines – San Beda seeks to sweep its way straight to the finals while Lyceum of the Philippines University looks to prevent it as the old rivals collide today in what could be a sneak preview of the finals of the 95th NCAA basketball tournament at the Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan City.

Unbeaten and unflappable in 17 games, the Lions try to complete the sweep in their 4 p.m. tussle with the Pirates whom they defeated, 88-73, in the first round.

A victory would propel San Beda straight to the best-of-three finale while reducing the Final Four into a stepladder semifinal round.

But San Beda coach Boyet Fernandez expects a tough match.
