PSC unveils coaches program

MANILA, Philippines — Renowned resource speakers from their respective fields will headline the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) National Coaches Certification program scheduled today until Sept. 29 at the University of the Philippines Mindanao, Bago Oshiro, Tugbok District, Davao City.

Participants will come from both public and private schools. Dr. Karen Katrina Trinidad, Ph.D., RPsy, PSC-Philippine Sports Institute Medical Services and Sports Science Sports Psychology Unit head, will tackle the importance of sports psychology among athletes.

Professor Josephine “Joy” Reyes, PSC-PSI MSSS Sports Physiology Unit head, who earned her Masters and Bachelor’s Degrees at the University of the Philippines (UP), will discuss sports physiology while Dr. Robert Paul Jurado, who got his Doctorate Degree in Philosophy at the University of Sto. Tomas, will talk about sports ethics.

PSC-PSI national director for grassroots sports development program Prof. Henry C. Daut, with a Master of Science in Physical Education at the University of Oregon, will share his expertise on sports philosophy and sports pedagogy while PSC-PSI MSSS Sports Physiology Unit sports specialist Prof. Luis Serafin Cosep will focus on talent identification.

Five focus sports include athletics, swimming, table tennis, football/futsal and rugby football.
