Margielyn Didal steps up SEAG buildup in world skates
MANILA, Philippines — Asian Games gold medalist Margielyn Didal primes up for the coming SEA Games and at the same time seeks to earn qualifying points for next year’s Tokyo Olympics in the World Skates/Street League Skateboarding World Championships starting Friday in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
Didal placed fifth the last time she competed in this event in Los Angeles with the 20-year-old Cebuana hoping to snatch a medal this time and qualifying points for the 2020 Olympics.
She’s actually in pursuit of precious points after falling from No. 10 in the World Olympic skateboarding rankings to 13th after missing the Skateboarding Open in Qingfeng, China early this month.
The Skateboarding and Roller Sports Association of the Philippines, Inc. (SRAPI) is also fielding in Fil-German Daniel Ledermann, the national men’s champion, who also aims to put up a strong showing for a crack at a berth in the Tokyo Games.
Like Didal, Ledermann is a potential gold medalist in the SEA Games the country is hosting from Nov. 30-Dec. 11.
