Elma Muros-Posadas inspires Siklab Youth awardees to work harder

MANILA, Philippines — Filipino track and field icon Elma Muros-Posadas was named one of two Sports Idols during the second Siklab Sports Youth Awards held recently at the Market! Market! Activity Center in BGC, Taguig City.

Upon receiving her award, Posadas gave an inspirational talk to all 45 awardees centered on pushing themselves to the limit until achieving victory and excellence in their respective sport.

“Huwag kayong tumigil hanggang hindi nyo nakukuha ang panalo dahil hindi lang para sa inyo ito, kundi para din sa bansa natin,” said Posadas during the awards night backed by Smart/PLDT, MVP Sports Foundation, Pagcor, Ayala Malls and Market! Market!

Leading the awardees were triathlete Andrew Kim Remolino, golfer Yuka Saso, basketball’s Dave Ildefonso, cycling’s Marc Ryan Lago as Siklab Young Heroes in the gala supported by the Philippine Sports Commission, the Philippine Olympic Committee and Go For Gold.

Dragonboat world champion paddlers Lealyn Baligasa and Christine Mae Talledo were also named Siklab Young Heroes as well as fencers Maxine Esteban and Samantha Catantan, wrestler Cadel Evance Hualda and speed skater Julian Kyle Silverio.

Pole vaulter Hokett delos Santos, Lanz Zafra (badminton), Jannah Romero (table tennis), Janzeth Gajo (wushu), shooters Denise Basila and Michael Angelo Fernandez likewise hogged the limelight.

International Masters Kylen Mordido and Marvin Miciano were also feted as Young Heroes while gymnast Karl Eldrew Yulo, brother of World Championships bronze medalist Caloy Yulo, Lovely Mae Orbeta (darts) and IM Daniel Quizon led the Super Kids awardees.

Joining Posadas as Sports Idols was jiujitsu world champion Meggie Ochoa while PSC chairman Butch Ramirez and Go For Gold project head Jeremy Go were chosen Godfathers of the Year.

Top performers from the Palarong Pambansa and the Batang Pinoy Games were honored, with Naina Dominque Tagle and Xiandi Chua, Michaela Jasmine Mojdeh and Marc Bryant Dula leading the cast.
