MANILA, Philippines — Esports is coming out of local computer shops and into the big stage at the 30th Southeast Asian Games in November.

With six medal events slated at the biennial event, esports is quickly becoming an institution in the world of athletic competition.

Debuting the events in Manila, the Philippines hopes to field a squad that can keep up with esports' best.

A 76-strong training pool has already been selected for six esport titles: Tekken 7, Hearthstone, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, Dota 2, Starcraft II and Arena of Valor.

The official lineup for Sibol, the national esports team of the Philippines, will be announced this September.
